Motivation

There was a time when food tasted different in every home, and the recipes of each family lived on through generations. Every dish had a distinct taste and flavor that would not be found anywhere else. Every region had its distinctive cuisine, its own cooking process and primary spices. It was a world that was not standardized the way it is today, where everyone cooks using the same packaged spice and the taste is almost the same - good but same, and there is hardly any variety.

This is an effort to collectively record the recipes which will never make it into any cookbook, these are the simple and varied home recipes from the different regions and sub regions and have been transferred from mother to daughter by cooking side by side
.

I am focusing on East Indian recipes from the states of Bengal and Orissa because that is what I am most familiar with, but I would not want to restrict it to just that and welcome recipes from all other regions.

This is a early version of this website and it has not been designed to make contributions easy, but within the next few months I would like to make that happen.

If you have any recipes you want to post here, please send it to randhuni@yahoo.com. Or if you are familiar with blogspot, go ahead and post it yourself.

Thanks
